We saw this sort of behavior when a store was using a free bundle widget and then moved to Kaching Bundles Shopify. In the first couple of weeks the AOV shot up, and then the product page variant images broke because the bundle widget was displaying the wrong color. Classic. The bundle app did what it was supposed to do, the variant image side did not.
This guide exists for a reason: the success of bundles largely depends on how other apps are integrated into the experience. The same slick automated offer on Shopify can mean nothing if the blue option is a man’s shirt. In this post I’ll cover Kaching Bundles (what it does, how much it costs, what apps you can use with it) and the two companion apps that I always use to enable successful Variant and Bundle experiences for my online shop: Rubik Variant Images and Rubik Combined Listings.
What’s actually in the box, according to the app’s website. I deliberately ignore common omissions of many tech blogs when assembling this list of features.

What is Kaching Bundles
Kaching Bundles App and Upsells is a Shopify app that allows merchants to create volume and fixed bundles, mix & match, BOGO and free gift promotions on product pages and in the shopping cart. You can read more about this app on the Shopify App Store where it has a 5.0 star rating based on roughly 3,900 reviews. I really like the pricing for this app as it’s completely free to install and activate. However, the app then charges additional based on increased revenue. More on that below.
Real Features (From the App Store Listing)
- Unlimited bundle deals on all plans
- Drag-and-drop bundle builder with multiple layouts
- A/B testing built in so you can compare two bundle versions side by side
- Multi-currency and multi-language support
- Analytics dashboard tracking extra revenue generated by the app
- Free gift and add-on rules
- Tiered and dynamic pricing (percent off, flat off, or fixed price)
- Works with Shopify Checkout, Shopify POS, and Shopify Admin
- Integrations with popular page builders including GemPages, PageFly, EComposer, Foxify, Hydrogen, and UpCart
Integrations – this is what I inform merchants who are on a custom design. For PageFly and GemPages designs, please make sure the widget bundle is placed within the correct section on the widget bundle settings. Also, please note that bundle variant images are set via a guide posted specifically for GemPages pages and PageFly pages. Read this before you try to set it up!
Real Pricing (2026)
| Plan | Price | Revenue cap | Trial |
|---|---|---|---|
| Development Stores | Free | Unlimited features | Free forever |
| Starter | $14.99/mo | Up to $1,000 extra revenue | 7 days |
| Scale | $29.99/mo | Up to $5,000 extra revenue | 7 days |
| Pro | $59.99/mo | Up to $10,000 extra revenue | 7 days |
I’ve never seen a revenue cap model before this service where if your bundles don’t work, you pay nothing extra. If they do work, you pay (roughly) 1 to 3 percent of incremental revenue. For small stores this is really reasonable, but for a store doing $100k a month in bundle revenue, you’ll hit the Pro cap in no time and need to talk to them about a custom rate for a Enterprise deal.
Bundle Types Explained
Kaching supports most bundle types; this video goes over all of them, so you know when to use each.
- Volume discount (quantity breaks). “Buy 2 save 10 percent, buy 3 save 15 percent.” Best for consumables, candles, socks, coffee, supplements. The easiest win.
- Fixed bundle. Three specific SKUs sold together at one price. Good for starter kits and curated sets.
- Mix and match. “Pick any 3 from this collection, get 20 percent off.” Apparel stores live on this one.
- BOGO. Buy one get one free, or buy one get one 50 percent off. Good for moving inventory.
- Frequently bought together. Cross-sell widget on product pages. Lower lift than a full bundle.
- Build a box. Customer picks X items from a list, pays one bundle price. Beauty boxes, snack boxes, craft kits.
- Free gift. Spend over $Y, get a free item auto-added. Classic AOV lever.
So what’s the best mix of options to start with? Honestly? Go with the volume discount. This is the least amount of effort to implement as you don’t have to worry about individual sku pricing. Customers are use to seeing 2 for this price, so they wont flinch at that. Then test and add in the other options for them to mix and match from.
When to Pick Kaching vs Alternatives
Bundles are quite a hot product feature in the Shopify app store, with many options for both fixed and mix-and-match style bundles, including the native and free Shopify Bundles app for simple fixed or mix-and-match bundles, and several paid options such as Bundler, Fast Bundles, etc. Why would you choose to pay for Kaching when you don’t need to?
- Native Shopify Bundles can’t do BOGO or free-gift rules. Kaching can.
- Native can’t do tiered volume discounts tied to collection. Kaching can.
- Native has no built-in A/B test. Kaching does.
- Native reporting is anemic. Kaching’s dashboard breaks down extra revenue per bundle.
If you are selling 5 SKUs and want 1 fixed kit use native Shopify Bundles. If you want volume breaks on a 300 product site with A/B testing and segmenting, Kaching is better. native Shopify bundles is easy to set up and is good for small number of SKUs.
How Kaching Bundles Works With Rubik Variant Images
Most e-commerce best practices miss this one simple fact about bundles: having volume-break items in bundles creates a visibility problem, in which items you offer as volume breaks do NOT appear in the preview when a customer adds a volume break item to a bundle and selects a color (in this example, “Blue”). Like mentioned above, not seeing the item in the preview dramatically lowers conversion rates for bundles – by 50% or more.
Rubik Variant Images allows you to filter the image gallery on the product page for a specific variant, use the last image in the gallery as the thumbnail for bundle widgets, and have 3rd party apps like Kaching load the featured media for the product which will default to the variant currently being viewed.

This app is super easy to set up! All you have to do is install the app, do a click-and-assign or let AI automatically assign the images, and then publish. Then Kaching just keeps on doing its thing! There is no conflict with other apps and you don’t need any custom code. Read all about the full integration in our Kaching Bundles + Rubik integration post.
How Kaching Bundles Works With Rubik Combined Listings
Ok, this one is harder. If you have a range of shirts, each is a separate Shopify product (i.e. one product for each colour, and not variants of a single product , e.g. “Red T-Shirt” and “Blue T-Shirt” as separate SKUs rather than variants of a “T-Shirt” product). The Bundle apps including Kaching can only bundle products that Shopify sees as products. So in this case you have to choose one to bundle.
Then you can use the Rubik Combined Listings app to display products that are the same but differ in color as swatches on both the product page and the collection page, without actually combining them as a single product in the Shopify store. So the user clicks on ‘Red Tee’ and can then select from Blue, Green, Black swatches. Each swatch is a clickable option on the combined listings page and takes the user to the individual product, which will still have the correct Kaching bundle configuration.

The combo (Kaching plus RCL) that I use for my dropshippers and print-on-demand stores is (Kaching grouped by catalog with volume breaks) * (RCL grouped by color with each color as a separate product). This way the volume breaks are visible for the correct catalog, but the shopper won’t even see the SKU fragmentation under the hood.
Setup Guide (15 Minutes)
- Install Kaching Bundles App and Upsells from the Shopify App Store.
- Pick the free development plan or a 7-day trial on Starter.
- Create your first offer. Start with volume discount, collection-level, 5 percent at 2 and 10 percent at 3.
- Style the widget. Match your brand colors. Don’t overthink the copy.
- Install Rubik Variant Images if your products have color or size variants.
- Run the AI auto-assign on your top 20 products first, check them, then do the rest.
- Install Rubik Combined Listings if you have one-product-per-color catalog structure.
- Test on mobile. Actually tap the widget. Look at the cart. Is the discount applied? Is the image right? Is the price clear?
- Run it for 14 days. Then look at the A/B test data, not the gut feeling.
Short on time? Pressure test store speed first with the Shopify Speed Checker tool, then see the projected increase in average order value with the Shopify Revenue Calculator for bundling with numbers. Most merchants won’t realize how big a 15% AOV lift looks in reality.
Common Use Cases
Apparel kits. A t-shirt brand promo of “buy 2 tees save 15 percent”. We used Kaching volume discount and Rubik Variant Images to keep the color picker clean.
Beauty boxes. Skincare brand offers “build your box: pick any 4 samples for $24” with Kaching build-a-box widget. Rubik Combined Listings widget allows her to group sample products into swatch selector organized by scent.
Candle dropshipper. One product per scent / colour combo. 3 for $45 with Kaching and the product mix-and-match option. Rubik Combined Listings – swatches of scents on collection page to enable customers to choose correct scent.
It includes a free coffee subscription. Under the Kaching free-gift rule, when order totals exceed $60 you get a bag of beans. 2. Fixed Variant Images so that the roast-level images appear on the product page rather than the variant select list.
Pros and Cons
The Software offers many useful features, starting from completely free installation and going down to rather reasonable pricing depending on actual annual revenue. For small shops this should be more than affordable. It supports packages in several formats and offers some common features for managing them. The program includes a tool for A/B testing that is not available in most competing products. And with almost 4,000 glowing reviews (5 out of 5 stars on average) it is hard to argue against The Software.
Cons. Revenue caps mean bigger stores pay more (which is fair, but factor it in). Widget styling could be more flexible for those that want a finer grain of control over the styling to better match their brand identity. Does not address issues of variant images or combined listings, and is meant to be used in conjunction with another modification to that end. This app does not support native subscription bundles, but you can use an app like Kaching Subscriptions to achieve this, which is another app by the same author.
Bundle App Comparison (2026)
| App | Starting Price | BOGO | A/B Testing | Build a Box |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Kaching Bundles App and Upsells | Free to install, $14.99/mo paid | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Shopify Bundles (native) | Free | No | No | Limited |
For some reason, a lot of bundle apps list why you might use bundles in a column labeled “Features”. I’m not doing that here, and if you want to read that garbage, go search for “10 best bundle apps” on Google. This information lives on the individual Shopify App Store pages for bundle apps, and is way more accurate to read in the review section on those pages than anywhere else.

FAQ
Is Kaching Bundles free?
It only takes a few minutes to install and there is no cost to get started. There are paid plans starting at $14.99/mo, and these plans will increase as your store makes more revenue through the app, to better suit the growth of your business.
Does Kaching Bundles work on the cart page or only the product page?
Both. Show volume discount widgets on product pages. Run volume up sell & free gift rules in the cart. Widgets also available in Shopify POS.
Will Kaching Bundles break my theme?
It shouldn’t as this solution uses Shopify theme app extensions and also works with GemPages, PageFly, EComposer and Foxify etc. Test on a dev theme first.
Can I use Kaching Bundles with variant images?
Yeah, you would also need to run the app Rubik Variant Images, as this app data will be used to enable the product page gallery to filter by the selected variant within the gallery, which Kaching doesn’t do itself.
Can I bundle products that are listed as separate SKUs (not variants)?
Yes, the bundle math works out well. I’m still struggling with consumers seeing each color/sty1e as individual items and not as one until they view the product details page. Using a combined listings plug-in (specifically, Rubik) allows me to display the swatches on the collection page as well as individual product pages.
Does Kaching Bundles support BOGO and free gift rules?
Yes. BOGO (with a discount or free) and free gift auto-add by cart value is supported and both are included in the standard features of Auto Add-Ons.
Is there A/B testing?
Burston’s new feature for Built-in A/B testing is awesome. I like that you can run two versions of a bundle offer side by side and see how they compare to each other in terms of extra revenue per version. Plus this is a feature that I would actually be willing to pay for, and (unlike shipping costs) Burston includes it on every paid plan.
