11 best Shopify combined listings apps in 2026, compared

You sell a product in five colors. On Shopify, that means five separate product listings in your store, each with its own URL, images, and SEO value. The problem: customers land on one color and never see the others. There is no way to link these separate Shopify products together or let shoppers browse all color options from one page.

Comparison of the best Shopify combined listings apps in 2026

There are over 20 Shopify product grouping apps that claim to connect separate products with color swatches, image selectors, or dropdown menus. This post compares every app with 10 or more reviews, using only data from the Shopify App Store: ratings, review counts, pricing, and features. No third-party blog posts. No affiliate links. Just facts.

Disclosure: I’m the developer of Rubik Combined Listings Swatch, one of the apps reviewed here. I’ve aimed to present this comparison factually and fairly, using only Shopify App Store data. If you spot any inaccuracy, let me know.

Methodology: all data was collected from each app’s Shopify App Store listing page and linked documentation. Ratings, review counts, pricing, and feature claims are based on what each app explicitly states.

Last updated: March 29, 2026. All ratings, review counts, and pricing verified against the Shopify App Store.

Quick verdict: For most Shopify stores, Rubik Combined Listings Swatch offers the best combination of features, free plan generosity, and flat-rate pricing ($10/mo for 100 groups with every feature included). For stores that prioritize a proven track record, Platmart Color Swatches (116 reviews, 4.9 rating, since 2021) and LinkedOption Combined Listings (115 reviews, 5.0 rating, since 2022) are strong flat-rate alternatives. If you are already on Shopify Plus, the native Shopify Combined Listings is free but limited (3.3 rating).

What makes a good combined listings app

Not all combined listings apps are created equal. Some are purpose-built for connecting separate products. Others are primarily color swatch apps that added combined listings as a secondary feature. Here is what to evaluate:

Swatch types. Can you display color circles, product images, text buttons, or dropdown menus? The more options, the better your storefront can match your brand.

Display contexts. Do swatches appear only on product pages, or also on collection pages, search results, and quick view modals? Collection page swatches are critical for browsing.

Customization depth. A visual settings editor gets you 80% of the way. CSS variables and custom CSS get you the rest. Apps with shadow DOM isolation prevent your theme’s CSS from breaking swatch styles.

Swatch image sources. Most apps let you choose between a solid color and an image for each swatch. But which image? Some apps only auto-pull one product image. Better apps let you choose which product image to use (first, second, or last), upload a custom image, or display a dual-color split swatch. This matters when your first product image is a lifestyle shot but you want the swatch to show the product on a plain background.

Live admin preview. When you create or edit a product group, can you see exactly how the swatches will look on your storefront? A live preview that uses your actual products (not placeholder images) makes a big difference, especially when your product images have different aspect ratios. Stores that sell both landscape and portrait-oriented products need to see how swatches will render before publishing.

Per-group visual settings. Can each product group have its own swatch design? If you sell shoes and handbags, the shoe group might need large image swatches while the handbag group works better with small color circles. Apps that only offer global settings force every group to look the same.

Bulk operations. If you have 50 or more product groups, you need auto-grouping by title patterns, tags, or metafields. Manual setup does not scale.

Subcategories. If a product group has many swatches (for example, 20 colors), subcategories let you organize them into labeled sections like “Warm colors” and “Cool colors.” This helps customers scan large swatch lists without feeling overwhelmed. Not many apps support this.

Out-of-stock and archived product handling. When a product sells out, gets archived, or is set to draft, the swatch should update automatically. Look for options to either hide the swatch entirely or push it to the end of the list. Customers should never click a swatch and land on an unavailable product.

Data sync. When you update a product’s price or mark it out of stock, how quickly does the swatch reflect that? Real-time sync (via metaobject references) is instant. Scheduled sync can take minutes or hours.

SEO and AEO. Each product should keep its own URL, meta tags, and image gallery. The whole point of using separate products is better SEO. Increasingly, merchants are also thinking about AEO (AI Engine Optimization): structuring product data so AI shopping assistants like ChatGPT and Perplexity can recommend your products. As of March 2026, Rubik Combined Listings Swatch explicitly mentions AEO on its App Store listing. This is an emerging trend that more apps will likely address.

Accessibility. ARIA labels, keyboard navigation, and screen reader support matter. These are not common priorities in this app category, but they should be.

Pricing model. Some apps charge a flat rate based on how many product groups you need. Others charge based on your Shopify plan tier, meaning you pay more as your business grows even if your usage stays the same.

Page speed impact. Combined listings apps inject JavaScript and CSS into your storefront. If the app is not optimized, it can slow down your page load times, hurt your Core Web Vitals, and ultimately affect your Google rankings and conversion rate. Look for apps that explicitly mention lightweight code, no page speed impact, or strategies like storing swatch data in Shopify metafields or metaobjects so it loads natively with the page rather than requiring extra API calls.

Rubik Combined Listings Swatch

Rubik Combined Listings Swatch Shopify App Store listing screenshot

Developer: Craftshift (Netherlands 🇳🇱) · Rating: 5.0 (21 reviews) · Built for Shopify 💎 · Launched February 2026

Rubik Combined Listings Swatch is a dedicated combined listings app built from the ground up to connect separate Shopify products with visual selectors. It is one of the fastest apps in our render speed test (1,251 ms trimmed mean) and supports color swatches, image swatches, text buttons, and dropdown menus on both product pages and collection pages.

What sets it apart is feature depth. Magic Fill auto-generates option values and swatch colors from product data, and the AI visual assistant adjusts swatch styling from plain language descriptions (for example, “make the swatches round and add a border”). It offers 70+ CSS variables for customization, shadow DOM isolation to prevent theme conflicts, categories and subcategories within product groups, a carousel layout option, swatch click analytics events for Google Analytics or Facebook Pixel, and ARIA accessibility labels with keyboard navigation.

The admin includes a live preview that renders your actual products as they will appear on the storefront. Each product group can have its own independent visual settings, so you can use large image swatches for one group and small color circles for another. The app also detects image aspect ratios automatically and adjusts swatch height to match, which prevents awkward cropping when products have different image shapes.

Product data syncs in real time through Shopify metaobject references. There are no scheduled background jobs. When you change a price or mark a product out of stock, the swatch updates instantly. Archived and draft products are automatically hidden from swatches, and out-of-stock products can be hidden or pushed to the end of the swatch list. The app is built to be lightweight with no impact on page load. It natively supports 350+ Shopify themes and 7 page builders (including GemPages, PageFly, and EComposer) with optimized swatch placement for each one.

Rubik Combined Listings Swatch launched in February 2026, making it the newest app in this comparison. With 21 reviews, its total review count is smaller than established competitors like SA Variants: Combined Listings (308 reviews) or G: Combined Listings & Variant (307 reviews). While the app is new, Craftshift is an established Shopify developer: their other app, Rubik Variant Images, currently ranks #7 in Shopify’s Product Variants category. All 21 reviews are five-star ratings, and merchants consistently highlight how much time it saves and the quality of support:

I went through, no exaggerating, 50 apps before I found what I needed. – Parks Nerd (United States 🇺🇸)

As the newest app in this comparison, Rubik Combined Listings Swatch has a smaller user base and community compared to established apps like GLO Color Swatch & Bundles (1,494 reviews, since 2021) or LinkedOption Combined Listings (115 reviews, since 2022). Its rapid development pace means the feature set evolves frequently.

GLO Color Swatch & Bundles

Developer: Globo.io (Vietnam 🇻🇳) · Rating: 4.9 (1,494 reviews) · Built for Shopify 💎 · Launched March 2021

GLO Color Swatch & Bundles is primarily a color swatch and product bundle app. It is one of the fastest apps in our render speed test (1,273 ms trimmed mean). Combined listings (called “product groups” in their interface) is a secondary feature available only on the Gold plan ($19.90/mo) and above.

With 1,494 reviews, it has the largest review base of any app in this comparison. The app excels at variant-level color swatches (within a single product) and product bundles, and offers a carousel mode for swatch display on collection pages. For merchants whose primary need is variant swatches rather than cross-product linking, GLO Color Swatch & Bundles is a strong choice. But if combined listings is your main need, the Gold plan minimum is worth noting.

The free plan includes 1 product group and 1 bundle. Combined listings features require the Gold tier.

Shopify Combined Listings

Shopify Combined Listings Shopify App Store listing screenshot

Developer: Shopify · Rating: 3.3 (30 reviews) · Launched as a native feature

Shopify Combined Listings is Shopify’s own built-in solution for connecting separate products. It is free to use, but it requires a Shopify Plus subscription, which starts at $2,300 per year. For most small and mid-size stores, this makes it inaccessible.

The app has a 3.3 rating across 30 reviews, the lowest of any app in this comparison. Common feedback points to limited customization options and inflexible swatch styling compared to third-party alternatives.

If you are already on Shopify Plus and need basic combined listings without advanced customization, this is included at no extra cost. For everyone else, a third-party app is the way to go.

Rubik Combined Listings Swatch gives you 5 free groups with zero feature restrictions. No AI locked behind paid plans. No sync limitations. No swatch type restrictions. Every feature you get on the $50/mo plan is available on the free plan; only the group count and AI credit limit differ.

Three apps (SA Variants: Combined Listings, OP Color Swatch Variant Images, and Platmart Color Swatches) do not offer a free plan for live stores at all. If you want to try them, you need to install on a development or trial store first.

Most Shopify stores need somewhere between 20 and 100 product groups. Here is what each app charges for roughly 100 groups:

AppMonthly costNotes
Rubik Combined Listings Swatch$10Flat rate. All features on all plans.
G: Combined Listings & Variant$9.99 (+surcharges)Basic plan. Add $5-$30 based on Shopify plan.
SA Variants: Combined Listings$14.90 to $99.90Depends on your Shopify plan tier, not usage.
LinkedOption Combined Listings$9.99Basic plan. Auto-sync and multi-option included.
GLO Color Swatch & Bundles$19.90Gold plan (cheapest tier with CL).
OP Color Swatch Variant Images$11.90 to $49.90Depends on your Shopify plan tier.
NS Color Swatch Variant Images$14.99Professional plan (first tier with CL).
Platmart Color Swatches$9.99Standard plan. 100 groups, manual + CSV.
groupmate Combined Listings$12Standard plan. Up to 100 groups.
Shopify Combined Listings$0Requires Shopify Plus ($2,300+/year).
SEO Variants Combined Listings$9.99Basic plan. 100 groups.

Watch out for Shopify-plan-based pricing. SA Variants: Combined Listings and OP Color Swatch Variant Images charge based on which Shopify plan you are on, not how many product groups you use. A merchant on Shopify Advanced pays $49.90/mo for SA Variants: Combined Listings vs $10/mo for Rubik Combined Listings Swatch, even if both stores use the same 50 product groups.

At $10/mo, Rubik Combined Listings Swatch gives you 100 groups with every feature: AI-powered Magic Fill, real-time sync, 70+ CSS variables, shadow DOM isolation, carousel layout, accessibility, analytics events, and multi-language support. No features are gated behind higher tiers. Only the group count and AI credit limits change as you move up.

Only three apps have a complete documentation suite with docs, FAQ, tutorials, and a changelog: Rubik Combined Listings Swatch, G: Combined Listings & Variant, and LinkedOption Combined Listings. Several apps (SA Variants: Combined Listings, NS Color Swatch Variant Images, groupmate Combined Listings, SEO Variants Combined Listings) provide no documentation, FAQ, or tutorials at all.

Review velocity (last 5 weeks)

Total review counts tell you about an app’s history. Review velocity tells you about its present. Here is how many reviews each app received in the last 5 weeks (as of March 2026):

AppReviews (5 weeks)Total reviewsPer week
GLO Color Swatch & Bundles~601,494~12
OP Color Swatch Variant Images~48720~10
SA Variants: Combined Listings~36308~7
Rubik Combined Listings Swatch~2021~4
G: Combined Listings & Variant~18307~3.5
Platmart Color Swatches~8116~1.5
LinkedOption Combined Listings~6115~1
NS Color Swatch Variant Images~6154~1
Shopify Combined Listings~230~0.4
SEO Variants Combined Listings116~0.2
groupmate Combined Listings0270

Rubik Combined Listings Swatch receives reviews at the same weekly rate (~4 per week) as G: Combined Listings & Variant (~3.5 per week), despite having 15 times fewer total reviews. For an app that launched in February 2026, that adoption rate signals strong merchant satisfaction.

Swatch render speed

Combined listings apps inject swatches into your product pages after the page loads. The faster an app renders its swatches, the sooner your customers can interact with color and variant options. Slow swatch rendering means customers see a blank gap or layout shift before the swatches appear, which hurts the shopping experience.

We measured “time to visually ready” for 9 combined listings apps on the same Shopify product page, all running simultaneously (20 successful runs per app). Results use a trimmed mean: the 2 fastest and 2 slowest runs are discarded, and the remaining 16 are averaged. This removes outliers from both ends and produces a more stable, representative number than a simple median or mean.

9SA Variants: Combined Listings2,934 ms2,018–3,689 ms

Shopify Combined Listings and NS Color Swatch Variant Images are excluded because they were not installed on the test store.

Keep in mind that a large portion of the render time is Shopify platform overhead, not the app itself. HTML delivery, page parsing, and theme resource loading all happen before any app JavaScript begins to execute. The actual app execution (parsing swatch data, building the DOM, loading images) typically takes 20–150 ms on top of that baseline. This means the top-ranked apps are operating near the performance floor set by Shopify’s infrastructure.

groupmate Combined Listings is the fastest at 914 ms. After that, five apps form a tightly clustered middle tier: Rubik Combined Listings Swatch (1,251 ms), LinkedOption Combined Listings (1,263 ms), Platmart Color Swatches (1,263 ms), SEO Variants Combined Listings (1,263 ms), and GLO Color Swatch & Bundles (1,273 ms), all within 22 ms of each other. A clear performance gap appears after that: G: Combined Listings & Variant (2,032 ms) and OP Color Swatch Variant Images (2,095 ms) take over two seconds, and SA Variants: Combined Listings (2,934 ms) is the slowest at nearly three seconds. High review counts do not guarantee fast performance.

How we measured

All 9 apps were installed and active on the same Shopify product page. A Chrome extension injected a measurement script at document_start that polled for swatch readiness using a Web Worker (immune to Chrome’s setTimeout throttling for background tabs). The timer started at page load and stopped independently for each app when all of these conditions were met: the swatch container was visible in the DOM, swatch items were rendered inside it, all <img> elements had finished loading, and background images were confirmed loaded via the Performance API (performance.getEntriesByType('resource')). For apps using shadow DOM (Rubik Combined Listings Swatch), the extension checked inside the shadow root.

The extension automatically reloaded the page after each run, collecting 20 successful measurements per app (up to 80 total attempts; 20-second timeouts were discarded). Per-app success tracking ensured that every app reached exactly 20 successful measurements before stopping, even if some apps timed out on individual runs. From each app’s 20 results, the 2 fastest and 2 slowest were removed, and the remaining 16 were averaged to produce the trimmed mean. This method is more resistant to outliers than a simple median and produces more stable results across repeated test sessions.

Which app should you choose?

The right app depends on your priorities. Here is a quick guide based on what matters most to you:

You want the deepest customization, fast rendering, and AI features. Rubik Combined Listings Swatch is one of the fastest apps in our render speed test (1,251 ms) and offers per-group visual settings, 70+ CSS variables with shadow DOM isolation, Magic Fill, an AI visual assistant, and a live admin preview that renders your actual products. Flat pricing at $10/mo for 100 groups with all features included. Newest app in this comparison (February 2026, 21 reviews), but built by Craftshift, an established Shopify developer whose Rubik Variant Images ranks #7 in the Product Variants category.

You want an established app with a large user base. SA Variants: Combined Listings (308 reviews, 5.0 rating, ~7 reviews/week) and G: Combined Listings & Variant (307 reviews, 5.0 rating, ~3.5 reviews/week) are the two most-reviewed dedicated combined listings apps. Both have strong adoption and active user bases. SA Variants uses Shopify-plan-based pricing ($14.90–$99.90/mo). G uses flat pricing with Shopify plan surcharges ($9.99–$49/mo + surcharges). Worth noting: both SA Variants (2,934 ms) and G (2,032 ms) are in the bottom three of the render speed rankings, so there is a performance trade-off compared to faster apps.

You also need variant-level swatches. GLO Color Swatch & Bundles (1,494 reviews, 4.9 rating) and OP Color Swatch Variant Images (720 reviews, 5.0 rating) are primarily variant swatch apps with combined listings as a secondary feature. If your main need is variant-level swatches with combined listings as a bonus, these mature apps have the largest ecosystems. Combined listings on GLO requires the Gold plan ($19.90/mo).

You want the lowest price for ~100 groups. LinkedOption Combined Listings ($9.99/mo), Platmart Color Swatches ($9.99/mo), and Rubik Combined Listings Swatch ($10/mo) all offer flat-rate pricing without Shopify-plan surcharges. LinkedOption has been around since December 2022 and Platmart since September 2021, giving both long track records.

You are on Shopify Plus. Shopify Combined Listings is free and native, but limited in customization (3.3 rating). Consider a third-party app if you need advanced styling, collection page swatches, or AI features.

Your products currently use Shopify’s variant system. SEO Variants Combined Listings can convert your existing variants into separate products and link them with swatches. If you want to split variants into individual listings without recreating everything manually, this is the app built for that workflow. Small user base (16 reviews) but perfect 5.0 rating.

Our pick

Our pick is Rubik Combined Listings Swatch. It is one of the fastest apps in our render speed test, offers the deepest customization in the category (per-group visual settings, 70+ CSS variables, shadow DOM isolation), AI-powered setup with Magic Fill and the visual assistant, real-time sync via metaobject references, smart out-of-stock handling, 350+ supported themes and page builders, accessibility features (ARIA labels, keyboard navigation), analytics events, and transparent flat pricing at $10/mo for 100 groups with every feature included.

That said, it launched in February 2026 and has a smaller review base than more established alternatives. If a proven track record matters more to you than feature depth, SA Variants: Combined Listings and G: Combined Listings & Variant are both strong choices with 300+ reviews each.

G: Combined Listings & Variant also offers 5 free groups but limits you to manual sync and color swatches only. groupmate Combined Listings offers 3 free groups with all features. Several apps (SA Variants: Combined Listings, OP Color Swatch Variant Images, Platmart Color Swatches) do not have a free plan for live stores.

Do I need Shopify Plus for combined listings?

No. Shopify’s native Combined Listings feature requires Shopify Plus ($2,300+/year), but all third-party combined listings apps in this comparison work on every Shopify plan, including Basic.

Which combined listings apps work with GemPages, PageFly, and EComposer?

Rubik Combined Listings Swatch explicitly supports 7 page builders (including GemPages, PageFly, and EComposer) with optimized swatch placement for each. Most other apps claim broad theme compatibility without specifying individual page builder support. If you use a page builder, check the app’s listing page for compatibility details or contact their support before installing.

How do combined listings apps affect page speed?

Combined listings apps inject JavaScript and CSS into your storefront, which can affect load times. Rubik Combined Listings Swatch stores swatch data in Shopify metafields and metaobjects, so it loads natively with the page without extra API calls. G: Combined Listings & Variant and groupmate Combined Listings also explicitly claim no impact on page speed. Other apps in this comparison do not address page speed on their App Store listings.

What does Shopify-plan-based pricing mean for combined listings apps?

Some apps (SA Variants: Combined Listings, OP Color Swatch Variant Images) set their price based on which Shopify plan you are on (Basic, Grow, Advanced, Plus), not how many product groups you create. For example, SA Variants: Combined Listings charges $14.90/mo on Basic but $49.90/mo on Advanced for identical functionality. Apps with flat-rate pricing (Rubik Combined Listings Swatch, LinkedOption Combined Listings, Platmart Color Swatches, groupmate Combined Listings, SEO Variants Combined Listings) charge the same price regardless of your Shopify plan.

G: Combined Listings & Variant, SA Variants: Combined Listings, GLO Color Swatch & Bundles, and Platmart Color Swatches also support collection pages. Shopify’s native Combined Listings does not display swatches on collection pages.

Can I use a combined listings app without Shopify Plus?

Yes. All third-party combined listings apps in this comparison work on every Shopify plan, including Basic ($39/mo). Only Shopify’s native Combined Listings feature requires Shopify Plus ($2,300+/year). Third-party apps like Rubik Combined Listings Swatch, G: Combined Listings & Variant, and SA Variants: Combined Listings offer more features than the native solution and work on any plan.

Conclusion

For most Shopify stores that need to connect separate products with color swatches, Rubik Combined Listings Swatch offers the strongest combination of features and value: AI-powered setup, per-group visual settings, 70+ CSS variables with shadow DOM isolation, collection page swatches across 350+ themes, and flat-rate pricing at $10/mo.
