Best Shopify apps for art and print stores in 2026, ordered by review count

Short answer: art stores usually split one artwork across several products, one per size or frame, which is why the shop looks duplicated. Printify handles fulfilment at 4.7 stars across 4,273 reviews. Rubik Combined Listings, built by Craftshift, groups those separate products into one listing with swatches. Free to install, 5.0 stars across 63 reviews.
An art catalogue is one image sold many ways. A3 and A2 and 50×70. Unframed, oak frame, black frame. Matte, satin, textured cotton rag at three times the price. One painting can become eighteen sellable things before you have photographed anything, and Shopify has no opinion about how you should model that.
Disclosure first: we build Shopify apps ourselves. Craftshift makes Rubik Variant Images, which filters a product gallery per variant, and Rubik Combined Listings, which links separate products into one listing. Both are ranked below, at the position the App Store’s own review count puts them, flagged as ours every time, and we say plainly where a competitor is the better pick. Five apps here have a longer track record than either of ours.
So which way do you model it? Sizes as variants of one product, or a separate product per size? Both are defensible, and the answer changes your entire app stack, which is why it belongs at the top of this page rather than buried at the bottom.

How this list is ordered
By Shopify App Store review count, highest first. Not by our judgement, because a ranking written by a company that sells into two of these categories is worth very little. Every rating, plan name and price came off the live listing in July 2026, and they move, so check before you install.
Review count is a proxy for track record and nothing else. It says nothing about fit, which is the only thing that matters when an app with 42,524 reviews and an app with 63 do completely different jobs.
The one decision that shapes an art catalogue
Variants or separate products. Everything else follows from it.
Model sizes as variants and you get one tidy product page and one URL. Model them as separate products and each size gets its own URL, its own title, its own shot at ranking for “A2 botanical print”, which is worth real money in a category where search intent is that specific. The cost is a collection page showing the identical artwork four times in a row, and shoppers who cannot tell whether they are looking at four artworks or one. We argue both sides in our separate products vs variants decision guide.
Print on demand pushes you toward separate products whether you planned it or not, because paper stock, frame and size come from different suppliers with different mockups. And then there is the image problem sitting underneath all of it: Shopify allows exactly one featured image per variant. One. So the framed mockup, the room shot and the corner detail all live in a gallery shared with every other frame you sell.
Doing that by hand is fine at twenty artworks. At four hundred prints in three sizes and two frames, that is 2,400 combinations to keep straight, which is why an app that links separate size and frame products into one swatch listing exists at all. Free to install, 5.0 stars across 63 reviews, and yes, that one is ours. Our free variant combination calculator does the arithmetic on your own catalogue.

Judge.me Product Reviews: 5.0 stars, 42,524 reviews
The largest review install base on the App Store, and art is one of the categories where it earns the slot outright. Nobody can judge scale from a white-background mockup. A customer photo of your A2 print above an actual sofa answers the only question anyone has, which is “how big is that really”. The forever free tier collects unlimited reviews with photos and video, plus Google rich snippets.
Where it stops: it is a review app, full stop. It will not touch your gallery, your swatches or your collection page. The Awesome plan is $15/month for AI replies and 130+ integrations. The rest of the category is in our roundup of Shopify review apps.
Printify: Print on Demand: 4.7 stars, 4,273 reviews
The biggest print on demand install base here, and the model is simple: you upload artwork, Printify routes each order to a print provider in its network, and product and shipping costs are billed only when a sale happens. For an artist that means posters, canvases and framed prints without holding a single unit of stock, which is the entire reason the category exists.
Where it stops: 4.7 is the lowest rating on this page and there is no Built for Shopify badge on the listing. The free plan covers 5 stores with unlimited designs, but Premium is $39/month, the highest entry price of the three fulfilment apps here, and what it buys you is up to 33% off products rather than new features. Work out whether that discount clears the subscription in our free profit margin calculator before you upgrade.
Printful: Print on Demand: 4.8 stars, 3,659 reviews
Fewer reviews than Printify and a higher rating, with production largely in Printful’s own facilities rather than a network of third parties. For art that consistency matters more than it does for a t-shirt, because two canvases from two different providers can come back two different shades of the same blue. Built-in design tools and a mockup generator come with the free plan.
Where it stops: no Built for Shopify badge either. Growth is $24.99/month and the listing says it becomes free once you reach $12K in yearly sales, which is honest but also tells you the discounts are a subscription until then. If you want a third option, Gelato: Print on Demand sits at 4.8 stars across 963 reviews, free to install, with Gelato+ at $29.99/month. All three are covered properly in our print on demand apps roundup.
Easify Custom Product Options: 4.9 stars, 2,832 reviews
The other way to model frames and mounts: not as variants at all, but as priced options on a single product. Easify adds dropdowns, image swatches, conditional logic and price add-ons, so an oak frame adds forty dollars and a mount option only appears once someone picks a frame. Free forever covers 15 option types with unlimited option sets, and Pro at $9.99/month adds the price add-ons, at the same price on every Shopify plan.
Where it stops: options are not variants, so a framed version does not get its own SKU, its own stock count or its own URL. For a print shop routing orders to a fulfilment partner by SKU, that is a genuine constraint rather than a detail. Compare the field in our Shopify product options apps comparison.
Smart Product Filter & Search: 4.9 stars, 2,170 reviews
Art buyers do not browse the way clothing buyers do. They arrive knowing the wall, which means they know the orientation, roughly the size, and the colour that has to work with the sofa. A filter tree built on those three attributes turns four hundred prints from a wall of thumbnails into something navigable in a minute.
It also has a setting worth knowing about for this niche: display variants as products, so a landscape and a portrait crop of the same artwork can appear as separate cards in filtered results. Where it stops: the free plan is for development and partner stores only, so there is no free path on a live shop. Basic is $14/month for up to 500 active products, $19/month for 1,000, and the listing prices Shopify Plus separately from $69/month.
Rubik Variant Images (ours): 5.0 stars, 410 reviews
Ours, so weigh it accordingly. It is the app for the variants route: attach as many photographs as you want to each variant, then filter the gallery so picking Oak Frame shows the oak mockups and the room shot with the oak frame in it, and hides the black ones. It turns the picker into image swatches too, which for frames is the difference between a dropdown reading “Natural Oak 30mm” and an actual photograph of the moulding.
“This really make the images organized especially if there are multiple variants. It makes the website looked clean. Also, thank you so much for Umid for assisting me with my problem. He fixed it in no time. He is really awesome on doing his job.”

Where it is the wrong pick: 410 reviews against Judge.me’s 42,524 is not a fight we win on track record. It also only covers one product’s own variants, so if your A2 and your A3 are separate products it cannot touch them. And if your fulfilment partner generates mockups per size anyway, you may not need it at all. Free plan covers one product, Starter is $25/month for 100. There is a live demo store and getting started docs. The print on demand angle specifically is in this piece on Printify and Printful variant images.
Rubik Combined Listings (ours): 5.0 stars, 63 reviews
Also ours, and the smallest listing on this page by a wide margin. Sixty-three reviews, against a competitor with 42,524, and we would rather say that than have you find it yourself. It is the app for the separate products route: link the A3, the A2 and the 50×70 into one listing with size swatches, keep every URL alive for search, and put swatches under the product cards so a shopper flipping through a collection sees one artwork instead of four cards of the same thing.

Bulk grouping is the part that matters at art-store scale. If your products are named consistently, and print catalogues usually are, groups can be built from a title pattern, a tag or a metafield rather than one at a time. Four hundred artworks in three sizes is 1,200 products, and nobody is grouping those by hand on a Sunday.
“This app is incredibly useful and very easy to use. It offers a wide range of customization options while still keeping the setup simple and intuitive. The categorization and grouping features are especially helpful for organizing products efficiently. The pricing is very reasonable for the value it provides. It has made managing combined listings much smoother for our store. Highly recommended for any Shopify merchant looking for flexibility without complexity.”

Where it is the wrong pick: if you modelled sizes as variants of one product, this does nothing for you and you want the previous entry instead. Sixty-three reviews is also a short record, and if that is your first filter you should walk away and we will not argue. Free plan covers 5 groups, Starter is $10/month for 100. Poke at the demo store, read the setup docs, or see how it works alongside a fulfilment app in this roundup of print on demand colour apps.
How to choose, in one rule
Look at your own collection page and count how many times the same artwork appears. If the answer is one, you built variants. If it is three or four, you built separate products. That single count tells you which half of this list applies to you, and the other half is a waste of money.
- Same artwork four times in the grid: Rubik Combined Listings, size swatches on the cards.
- Picking a frame does not change the mockups: Rubik Variant Images.
- No stock, no space, no capital: Printify or Printful, free tier, this week.
- Frames should be priced add-ons, not SKUs: Easify, free forever tier.
- Four hundred prints and no way to browse them: Smart Product Filter, from $14/month.
- Nobody can tell how big the print is: Judge.me, free tier, today.
One opinion, and it is not the popular one: most art stores should model sizes as separate products, not variants. The search intent is size-specific, the URLs are worth having, and the only real downside is a repetitive collection page, which is a solved problem. Before adding anything, run the page through our free product page grader and check your mockups against our Shopify product image size guide. A print store lives or dies on image quality, and no app fixes a 900px upload.
Frequently asked questions
Which app should I use to group print sizes into one listing?
Rubik Combined Listings, which links separate size, frame or paper products into a single listing with swatches and puts those swatches under the product cards on collection pages. It sits at 5.0 stars across 63 reviews, is free to install for 5 groups, and can build groups in bulk from a title pattern or tag. If your sizes are variants of one product instead, use Rubik Variant Images, at 5.0 stars across 410 reviews.
Should print sizes be variants or separate products?
Separate products give each size its own URL and its own chance to rank for size-specific searches, which are common in art. Variants keep one tidy page and concentrate ranking signals. Fulfilment usually pushes you toward separate products because paper, frame and size come from different suppliers with different SKUs.
What is the cheapest print on demand app for art prints?
All three named here install free and bill per order: Printify at 4.7 stars across 4,273 reviews, Printful at 4.8 across 3,659, and Gelato at 4.8 across 963. The paid tiers, $39, $24.99 and $29.99 a month, mostly buy product discounts, so they only pay for themselves above a certain order volume.
How do I show a different mockup for each frame colour?
Assign an image set per frame variant rather than relying on Shopify’s one featured image per variant. Rubik Variant Images does this and filters the gallery on selection, on 350+ themes with no theme file edits. If each frame is its own product, group them with Rubik Combined Listings instead.
How many apps does an art store actually need?
Three. One for fulfilment, one for reviews with customer photos, and one that makes your size and frame choices legible. Everything past that is usually a subscription solving a problem you invented while reading an app roundup, including this one.
