Best Shopify combined listings apps in 2026

separate product cards being grouped together with connecting swatch lines

Best Shopify combined listings apps keep changing, and 2026 has more options than ever. Two years ago the choice was basically “use Shopify Plus native combined listings or don’t.” Now there are 11 real apps on the Shopify App Store that do some version of product grouping. Some are dedicated combined listings tools. Some bolt it on as a secondary feature behind their swatch or bundle functionality. The pricing models are wildly different. Performance varies by a factor of 3x between the fastest and slowest.

I tested every single one. Not a quick install-uninstall. Actual product groups, actual storefronts, actual measurement of render times. This comparison uses only verified apps that exist on the Shopify App Store right now. No made-up names, no apps that got pulled, no hypothetical feature lists. If you want to plan your catalog structure before picking an app, run it through our Separate Products vs Variants decision tool first.

What actually matters in a combined listings app

Before the app-by-app breakdown, here’s what separates a good combined listings app from a mediocre one. These are the criteria I used for ranking.

Render speed. How fast do the swatches appear on the storefront? Anything above 2 seconds feels broken to shoppers. Below 1.5 seconds feels native. This is measurable and I measured it.

Pricing model. Flat pricing means you pay the same regardless of your Shopify plan. Plan-based pricing means you pay more as your store grows, even if you use the same number of product groups. I think plan-based pricing is the wrong model for this type of app, and I’ll explain why in the pricing section.

Free plan viability. Can you actually test the app with real products on a live store? Some apps offer a free plan that only works on development stores. Useless for evaluation.

CL as primary focus. Apps where combined listings is the main feature tend to have better UX, faster updates, and fewer edge-case bugs than apps where it’s a side feature bolted onto a swatch or bundle tool.

Theme compatibility. Does it work with your theme out of the box, or do you need manual code edits?

If you’re not sure whether combined listings is even the right approach for your catalog, read through how combined listings work first. It might save you from installing six apps to compare.

1. Rubik Combined Listings Swatch

Rubik Combined Listings Swatch Shopify App Store listing

Developer: Craftshift (Netherlands ๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ). Rating: 5.0 (21 reviews). ๐Ÿ’Ž Built for Shopify. Launched: February 2026.

Full disclosure: we built this one. So take the ranking with that context. But the data is the data, and I’ll call out where competitors do something better.

Rubik Combined Listings renders swatches in 1,251 ms (trimmed mean across test runs). That’s the second fastest in the category, behind only groupmate. It uses Shadow DOM rendering so the swatch CSS never conflicts with your theme, which sounds like a niche concern until you’ve spent three hours debugging why your swatches look wrong on Prestige but fine on Dawn.

The two AI features are what set it apart. AI Magic Fill auto-detects option values, swatch colors, and secondary colors for products inside a group, so you skip the manual hex-color picking. The AI Visual Assistant lets you change swatch styling through natural language (“make swatches bigger,” “pill-shaped buttons,” “split colors diagonally”) instead of digging through settings. Both features use monthly AI credits included with every plan.

Rubik also focuses on AEO (Answer Engine Optimization). Separate products with individual URLs, titles, and images are easier for AI shopping tools like ChatGPT and Google AI to recommend than variants buried inside a single product page.

Pricing (flat): Free $0/5 groups, Starter $10/100, Advanced $30/500, Premium $50/5,000. Annual billing saves 17%. All features on every plan, only group count and AI credits differ.

What merchants say:I went through, no exaggerating, 50 apps before I found what I needed.” โ€“ Parks Nerd (๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ). “Was having difficulties with 5 other apps before I found this one that worked perfectly.” โ€“ BELSKI (๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ)

Where it falls short: Newest app in the category with 21 reviews. If review count is your trust signal, Grouptify and SA Variants have 10x more. The team also builds Rubik Variant Images, which ranks in the top 10 of Shopify’s Product Variants category.

2. G: Combined Listings and Variant (Grouptify)

G: Combined Listings & Variant Shopify App Store listing

Developer: Grouptify (Vietnam ๐Ÿ‡ป๐Ÿ‡ณ). Rating: 5.0 (307 reviews). ๐Ÿ’Ž Built for Shopify. Launched: October 2024.

Grouptify has strong adoption and a solid product. 307 reviews at 5.0 stars is not easy to achieve. The grouping workflow is straightforward, the swatch customization is decent, and it works reliably.

The catch is the pricing. The base price looks comparable: Free (5 groups), Basic $9.99/mo (100 groups), Standard $29/mo, Advanced $49/mo. But there’s a surcharge layer based on your Shopify plan: +$5 on Shopify Grow, +$15 on Advanced, +$30 on Plus. That means the “Standard” plan costs $29/mo on Basic Shopify but $59/mo on Plus. Same features, same group count, different price depending on how much you pay Shopify. I think that’s a bad deal for growing stores.

Render speed came in at 2,032 ms, which is noticeably slower than the sub-1,300 ms tier but still functional.

What merchants say:This App works great and is a good to have if you look to create product groups, product variations, swatches on the collection or the PDP page.” โ€“ Doctors Choice Socks (๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ)

3. SA Variants: Combined Listings

SA Variants: Combined Listings Shopify App Store listing

Developer: StarApps Studio (India ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ). Rating: 5.0 (308 reviews). ๐Ÿ’Ž Built for Shopify. Launched: January 2025.

SA Variants has the most reviews in the dedicated CL category (tied with Grouptify). The product is solid for basic grouping. Where it loses points: entirely plan-based pricing with no free plan for live stores. The cheapest live-store plan is $14.90/mo (Basic Shopify), jumping to $99.90/mo on Plus. That’s almost double Rubik’s Premium plan price, for what’s roughly the same feature set.

Render speed was the slowest in our test at 2,934 ms. Nearly 3 seconds to render swatches is a long time. On mobile connections it can feel even longer.

What merchants say:Perfect for what I need, incredibly helpful service.” โ€“ Two + Lou (๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฟ)

4. LinkedOption Combined Listings

LinkedOption Combined Listings Shopify App Store listing

Developer: Gordon Kihn (China ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ณ). Rating: 5.0 (115 reviews). ๐Ÿ’Ž Built for Shopify. Launched: December 2022.

LinkedOption has been around since late 2022, making it one of the longest-running third-party CL apps. Flat pricing: Free (1 group), Basic $9.99/mo (100), Advanced $19.99/mo (500), Premium $39.99/mo (3,000). Fast render at 1,263 ms. Good value for stores that need straightforward grouping without frills.

The free plan only gives you 1 group, which barely lets you test. That’s tight. But the paid plans are reasonably priced and the performance is strong.

What merchants say:This app is genuinely excellent: stable, simple, and lightning-fast.” โ€“ Sua Maestร  Sicilia (๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น)

5. GLO Color Swatch and Bundles

GLO Color Swatch & Bundles Shopify App Store listing

Developer: Globo.io (Vietnam ๐Ÿ‡ป๐Ÿ‡ณ). Rating: 4.9 (1,494 reviews). ๐Ÿ’Ž Built for Shopify. Launched: March 2021.

GLO has more reviews than every other app on this list combined. But here’s the thing: combined listings is not their main feature. It’s a swatch and bundle app that added CL as a secondary capability. You need the Gold plan ($19.90/mo) to access combined listings at all. The Silver plan ($9.90/mo) is swatches only.

Render speed is solid at 1,273 ms. If you already use GLO for swatches and want to add basic grouping, it’s convenient. If you’re picking an app specifically for combined listings, a dedicated tool will give you a better experience.

What merchants say:Great app at a great price point. I truly appreciate the support they give while setting up the app.” โ€“ Blue Sky Clothing Co (๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ)

6. OP Color Swatch Variant Images

OP Color Swatch Variant Images Shopify App Store listing

Developer: OPTIS (Vietnam ๐Ÿ‡ป๐Ÿ‡ณ). Rating: 5.0 (720 reviews). ๐Ÿ’Ž Built for Shopify. Launched: June 2025.

OP is primarily a swatch and variant image app with combined listings as an added feature. Plan-based pricing with no free plan for live stores: Basic $11.90/mo, Grow $29.90/mo, Advanced $49.90/mo, Plus $99.90/mo. Render speed at 2,095 ms is in the slower tier.

720 reviews at 5.0 stars is impressive. The swatch customization is strong. For CL specifically though, it’s not the primary focus.

What merchants say:Great app. Easy to install! Had some minor issues with the setup but Katlyn was so helpful. Went above and beyond to help me fix it.” โ€“ Sole Sox Australia (๐Ÿ‡ฆ๐Ÿ‡บ)

7. NS Color Swatch Variant Images

NS Color Swatch Variant Images Shopify App Store listing

Developer: NestScale (Singapore ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡ฌ). Rating: 4.6 (154 reviews). Not Built for Shopify.

NS is a swatch and variant image app where combined listings is a secondary feature, available only on the Professional plan at $14.99/mo. At 4.6 stars it has the second-lowest rating in this comparison (only Shopify’s native option is lower). The lower rating and secondary CL feature make this a weaker pick if product grouping is your primary goal.

We were unable to measure render speed for NS in our test (not installed on the shared test store). No demo store with CL functionality was available for independent testing.

What merchants say:Excellent application, very well designed and highly performant.” โ€“ MenteFit (๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ญ)

8. Platmart Color Swatches

Platmart Color Swatches Shopify App Store listing

Developer: Platmart (Spain ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡ธ). Rating: 4.9 (116 reviews). ๐Ÿ’Ž Built for Shopify.

Platmart has been around since 2021 and combined listings is a primary focus. Flat pricing: Standard $9.99/mo (100 groups), Advanced $24.99/mo (500), Premium $49.99/mo (5,000). No free plan for live stores (only dev stores get free access), which makes testing harder before committing.

Render speed came in at 1,263 ms, putting it squarely in the fast tier alongside Rubik, LinkedOption, and GLO. A solid mid-tier option with competitive pricing and good performance.

What merchants say:Been using this app for 4 years. Extremely well optimised + the support has been amazing.” โ€“ Vice Sunglasses (๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ)

9. groupmate Combined Listings

groupmate Combined Listings Shopify App Store listing

Developer: mono.works GmbH (Germany ๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช). Rating: 5.0 (27 reviews). Not Built for Shopify.

groupmate has the fastest render speed in our test at 914 ms. That’s genuinely impressive and noticeably faster than everything else. Flat pricing: Free (3 groups), Lite $8/mo (25), Standard $12/mo (100), Advanced $24/mo (800). The pricing is competitive across all tiers.

The concern is sustainability. No external documentation, no FAQ page, no video tutorials. Review velocity has stalled (0 new reviews in the last 5 weeks as of our March check). If they stay active and invest in documentation, this one is worth watching. The speed alone makes it a contender.

What merchants say:Extremely well made. By far one of the most professional apps in the store.” โ€“ Vitoria Cosmรฉticos (๐Ÿ‡ต๐Ÿ‡น)

10. SEO Variants Combined Listings

SEO Variants Combined Listings Shopify App Store listing

Developer: SEOVariants Inc. (Canada ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ฆ). Rating: 5.0 (16 reviews). ๐Ÿ’Ž Built for Shopify.

SEO Variants takes an interesting angle: it focuses on converting existing Shopify variants into separate products, then linking them back together with swatches. This is the reverse workflow of most CL apps, which start with separate products and group them. If you already have variant-heavy products and want to split them for SEO, this is the most direct tool for that.

Flat pricing: Free (3 groups), Basic $9.99/mo (100), Advanced $14.99/mo (300), Premium $23.99/mo (3,000). The Advanced and Premium tiers are cheaper than most competitors at the same group count. Render speed came in at 1,263 ms in our test. Newest and smallest in the category with only 16 reviews, so the track record is limited.

What merchants say:Love the app! Blends in perfectly with your own style and is super easy to install.” โ€“ The Grey Men’s Skincare (๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฑ)

11. Shopify Native Combined Listings

Shopify Combined Listings Shopify App Store listing

Developer: Shopify. Rating: 3.3 (30 reviews).

Shopify’s own Combined Listings app is free to install, but it requires Shopify Plus ($2,300+/year). That makes it the most expensive option by far for stores that aren’t already on Plus. For stores that are on Plus, it’s a free add-on with no monthly cost.

The feature set is minimal compared to third-party options. Limited swatch customization, no collection page swatches on most themes, and no AI-powered setup tools. At 3.3 stars it has the lowest rating by a wide margin. Only makes sense if you’re already on Plus and your grouping needs are simple.

What merchants say:Fine App but not fully bug free. Reordering variants will change the order of the options…” โ€“ Ehrenkind (๐Ÿ‡ฉ๐Ÿ‡ช)

Render speed comparison

Speed matters more than most merchants realize. A 3-second swatch render on mobile can feel like the page is broken. Here are the results from our test (trimmed mean of 16 runs per app, same test product group, same connection conditions).

Rank App Render Speed (ms) Tier
1 groupmate Combined Listings 914 Fastest
2 Rubik Combined Listings Swatch 1,251 Fast
3 LinkedOption Combined Listings 1,263 Fast
4 Platmart Color Swatches 1,263 Fast
5 SEO Variants Combined Listings 1,263 Fast
6 GLO Color Swatch & Bundles 1,273 Fast
7 G: Combined Listings & Variant 2,032 Moderate
8 OP Color Swatch Variant Images 2,095 Moderate
9 SA Variants: Combined Listings 2,934 Slow

Shopify Native Combined Listings and NS Color Swatch Variant Images are excluded (not installed on the shared test store).

The fast tier (under 1,300 ms) all use some form of metafield-based loading. Rubik specifically uses metaobject references for real-time sync, meaning no background sync jobs and no stale data. The moderate tier relies on external script loading or server-side rendering that adds latency. The difference is visible on every page load.

A large portion of the render time is Shopify platform overhead (HTML delivery, page parsing, theme resource loading) before any app JavaScript begins executing. Actual app execution (parsing swatch data, building DOM, loading images) typically takes 20 to 150 ms. This means the top apps are all operating near the performance floor set by Shopify’s infrastructure.

Pricing breakdown for real stores

Here’s what you’d actually pay for 100 product groups. This is the most common range for mid-size stores.

App 100 Groups Price Pricing Model Plus Surcharge?
groupmate $12/mo Flat No
Rubik Combined Listings $10/mo Flat No
LinkedOption $9.99/mo Flat No
Platmart $9.99/mo Flat No
SEO Variants $9.99/mo Flat No
G: Combined Listings $9.99 to $39.99/mo Flat + surcharges Yes (+$30)
SA Variants $14.90 to $99.90/mo Plan-based Yes ($99.90)
OP Color Swatch $11.90 to $99.90/mo Plan-based Yes ($99.90)
GLO $19.90/mo Flat (but CL only on Gold) No

Notice the spread. For the same 100 groups, you could pay $9.99/mo or $99.90/mo depending on your Shopify plan and which app you pick. Plan-based pricing punishes growth. You graduate from Basic to Shopify to Advanced, your app costs jump even though you’re using the same number of groups. That’s backwards. Flat pricing is the fairer model and I’ll die on that hill.

Need to figure out how many groups your catalog actually needs? The Grouping Planner on rubikify.com can help you estimate before committing to a plan tier.

The verdict

For most stores in 2026, Rubik Combined Listings is the best overall pick. Fast render, flat pricing, AI features that save real setup time, all features on every plan, and Shadow DOM isolation that prevents theme conflicts. The review count is lower than the competition because it launched in February 2026, but the rating is 5.0 and the feature set is the deepest in the category.

If you’re already on Grouptify and it’s working, there’s no urgent reason to switch. 307 reviews and 5.0 stars means it’s a proven product. Just watch the surcharges if you upgrade your Shopify plan.

If you’re on a tight budget and need basic grouping, LinkedOption at $9.99/mo for 100 groups with fast render speed is hard to beat on price-to-performance.

If you’re on Shopify Plus and only need a few groups with minimal customization, the native Shopify option is free (since you’re already paying for Plus). But don’t expect the swatch quality or collection page support you’d get from a third-party app.

For variant images on the product page (filtering gallery images by selected variant), that’s a separate problem solved by a different type of app. Our variant image apps comparison covers that space. And if you need both product grouping AND variant image filtering, check out how Rubik Variant Images pairs with combined listings for the complete setup.

FAQ

Do I need Shopify Plus for combined listings?

No. Every third-party app on this list works without Shopify Plus. Only the native Shopify Combined Listings feature requires Plus ($2,300+/year). That’s one of the main reasons third-party apps exist.

What’s the difference between combined listings and regular variants?

Regular variants are options within a single product (S, M, L, XL). Combined listings link separate products together so they appear as one product with swatches. Each product keeps its own URL, images, and SEO metadata. This bypasses Shopify’s variant limits and gives you better SEO per option.

Which combined listings app is the fastest?

Groupmate at 914 ms is the fastest we measured. Rubik, LinkedOption, Platmart, and GLO all render under 1,300 ms. SA Variants was the slowest at 2,934 ms.

Can combined listings apps show swatches on collection pages?

Most dedicated CL apps support collection page swatches. Rubik, Grouptify, SA Variants, LinkedOption, and Platmart all do. The native Shopify feature does not on most themes.

What happens to SEO when I use combined listings?

Each grouped product keeps its own URL, title tag, and images. This is actually better for SEO than variants, where all options share one URL. Each color or material gets its own page that Google can index separately.

Can I use combined listings and variant images together?

Yes. Combined listings handles the product grouping and collection page swatches. A variant image app handles filtering the product page gallery per variant. Rubik Combined Listings and Rubik Variant Images are designed to work together, but the concepts apply to any pairing of CL and variant image apps.
