Best Shopify Apps for Supplement and Health Stores in 2026

Short answer: supplements is a subscription business with a labelling problem attached. Put the reorder on a schedule, publish the ingredient panel properly, then fix the gallery with Rubik Variant Images, built by Craftshift, which assigns a separate image set to every flavour and strength. Free plan, 5.0 stars across 410 reviews.
Nothing else on Shopify reorders like a supplement. A tub lasts thirty days because the label says thirty servings, which means the repeat purchase date is printed on the product. Get the subscription right and lifetime value stops being a projection and becomes arithmetic. Get it wrong and you pay acquisition cost twelve times for the same customer.
The second problem is the label. A protein in three flavours and two tub sizes is six variants, and each has a different supplement facts panel, because the ingredients genuinely differ between vanilla and chocolate. Most stores upload one panel image and let it sit next to the wrong flavour. One thing first, though: no app makes a health claim lawful. Ingredient rules, claim wording and labelling sit between you, your supplier and your regulator. An app can only put the right panel in front of the right shopper.
Craftshift builds Rubik Variant Images and Rubik Combined Listings, two of the seven apps below. The order is App Store review count, which we do not control, and it puts ours sixth and seventh: 410 and 63 against Appstle on 7,988. Both sit inside the ranked list and inside the comparison table, flagged as ours every time, and we say plainly where a competitor is the better pick. Every figure was read off the App Store listing on 29 July 2026.
One number first. Three flavours in two sizes is six variants with six different panels, six different tub shots and one shared scoop diagram. Doing that by hand across forty products is a week you will repeat at every reformulation, which is where filtering the gallery to the flavour and size the shopper picked pays for itself. 1. Appstle Subscriptions: the whole business model
What it does. Turns products into recurring purchases with replenishment, build a box and curation models, plus a portal for skipping, swapping and rescheduling.
Why supplements specifically. Consumption is printed on the tub. Thirty servings, one a day, thirty days. No other category gets that, and it makes the subscription the product rather than a discount attached to it. Build a box matters more here than almost anywhere: people take a stack, not a single item, and letting someone assemble creatine, magnesium and a multivitamin into one recurring shipment is how a $40 order becomes a $95 one.
The portal decides whether it survives month four. People change flavour, cycle off, travel. A subscription they cannot edit is one they cancel. 5.0 stars across 7,988 reviews, free plan up to $500 of subscription revenue a month, then $10. At small volume, Seal Subscriptions allows unlimited revenue and 50 subscriptions on its free tier, 4.9 across 2,909. Background: native subscriptions against third party apps.
2. Kaching Bundles & Upsells: the stack is the upsell
What it does. Bundles, mix and match sets, volume discounts, free gifts and upsells, applied through Shopify’s own discount system.
Why supplements specifically. Two offers carry this category. The sample pack solves flavour risk: nobody commits to a 2kg tub of something they have never tasted, and a three sachet trial removes the only real objection on the page. Volume pricing solves the other, because buy two get one free is how a customer covers a full cycle in one order and stops shopping around mid course.
The honest limitation. There is no free plan for a live store. Free to install applies to development stores, and Starter is $14.99 a month capped at $1,000 of additional revenue, then $29.99 and $59.99. 5.0 stars across 4,975 reviews. Check what those tiers do to your margin with the free profit margin calculator, and see our bundle apps roundup for the alternatives.
3. Smile: Loyalty Program Rewards
What it does. Points, referrals and VIP tiers, plus a dedicated loyalty page and Shopify Flow triggers on the paid tiers.
Why supplements specifically. Loyalty programs are dead weight where people buy twice a year. Here the cycle is thirty days and will not change, so a points balance genuinely influences where the next tub comes from. Referral is the stronger half though: people train together, compare stacks and ask each other what they take, which is a channel most stores never touch.
The honest limitation. The free plan stops at 200 monthly orders and Essential at $15 stops at 500, after which the next step is Standard at $79. That is a sharp jump for a growing store. 4.9 stars across 4,150 reviews. BON Loyalty Program & Rewards is the other verified option with a free plan, 5.0 across 1,798 reviews, from $15. Our guide to adding a loyalty program covers setup.
4. Okendo: Reviews & Loyalty
What it does. Review collection and display with attributes, grouping and moderation, plus loyalty, referrals, quizzes and surveys in one platform.
Why supplements specifically. Attribute based reviews are the part worth having. A star rating on a protein tells you nothing. Mixability, aftertaste, whether the vanilla is actually vanilla, those are the answers people came for, and structured attributes surface them where a paragraph does not. Quizzes are the other fit, because a shopper who cannot tell whey from isolate from a plant blend bounces rather than guesses.
The honest limitation. Pricing is order banded and it climbs quickly: free to 50 orders a month, Essential $19 to 200, Growth $119 to 1,500, Power $299 to 3,500. It also bundles loyalty, so pairing it with Smile means paying twice for the same job. 4.9 stars across 1,309 reviews, which is a fraction of Judge.me, which runs unlimited reviews on a free forever plan at 5.0 across 42,524. More in our review apps roundup.
5. Easy Tabs Product Tabs: where the ingredient panel belongs
What it does. Splits the product description into tabs, with shared tabs written once and applied across products, multilingual support and custom CSS.
Here is the rant. Why is the supplement facts panel still a flat JPEG that cannot be read on a phone, cannot be translated and cannot be indexed? It is the single most examined block on a supplement page. People buy on the ingredient list. Set it as text, in a tab, and you get something searchable instead of a picture of information.
Why supplements specifically. Four blocks appear on every product here: ingredients, directions, allergens and storage. Stack them into one description and the buy button lands two screens down. Shared tabs do the rest, because the allergen statement and storage advice are identical catalogue wide, so they get written once instead of edited in 200 places when the wording changes.
The honest limitation. No free plan at all, which is unusual in this bracket: $5 a month, or $99 once for the lifetime plan, on a 7 day trial. 4.9 stars across 413 reviews. FOLDER Smart Product Tabs does the same job on a free plan, 4.7 across 440 reviews, though the free tier carries app branding.
6. Rubik Variant Images (ours): the panel that matches the flavour
What it does. Shopify allows one featured image per variant. Rubik Variant Images assigns a whole image set to each variant through metafields, so selecting Chocolate in 2kg shows the chocolate tub, the chocolate panel and the chocolate mixed shot, and nothing from vanilla. It also turns the picker into image swatches, colour swatches or buttons.

Why supplements specifically. The panel is variant level information, and treating it as product level information is the mistake almost every store here makes. Vanilla and chocolate have different ingredients, different macros and sometimes different allergens, so one shared panel image is not a shortcut, it is wrong on five of six variants. The brand story, scoop diagram and testing badge really are shared, and those get assigned once instead of uploaded six times into the 250 image per product ceiling. There is more on cutting a cluttered gallery down to the variant in front of you, and our guide to multiple images per variant covers setup.
Where it is the wrong pick. A store selling single SKU tinctures with one photo each gets nothing from it. It earns its keep the moment you have flavours, strengths or tub sizes. And 410 reviews at 5.0 stars is a thin record next to Appstle on 7,988. Pricing is flat, ignoring your Shopify plan: free for 1 product, then $25 a month for 100, $50 for 1,000, $75 for unlimited.
“Very useful app for me, the standard shopify solution shows all variant images at once which may confuse buyers. With this app I can show the relevant images for the specific variant only. Besides that, I needed support for the configuration and I got very quick response from Umid who also solved my config problem very fast.”

7. Rubik Combined Listings (ours): when the flavour deserves its own page
What it does. Links separate Shopify products so they behave like one listing, with swatches on the product page and on collection cards. AI Magic Fill reads colours from your images, bulk grouping builds groups from title patterns, tags or metafields. No Shopify Plus needed.
Why supplements specifically. People search the flavour and the format, not the product line. Chocolate whey isolate and unflavoured collagen powder are separate searches with separate intent, and keeping them as variants of one product gives Google a single URL for all of it. Split them and each gets its own page, title, reviews and inventory, then group them back into one listing with flavour swatches, including on subscription products. Which structure fits? The free separate products versus variants tool answers it, and a tidy pattern from the SKU generator makes bulk grouping work first time.
Where it is the wrong pick. It does not filter images inside a single product. That is the other app, and the two get confused constantly. It earns nothing if three flavours genuinely belong as variants of one tub, which for a small range they usually do. 63 reviews at 5.0 stars is the thinnest record here, because the app is young. Free for 5 groups, then $10 a month for 100, $30 for 500, $50 for 5,000.
How to choose
Order of installation, not order of excitement. Subscriptions first, because everything else compounds on top of a repeating order.
- Selling anything consumed daily: subscriptions, then bundles. Those two set your average order value.
- Flavours or strengths on the same product: variant image filtering, so the panel matches the choice.
- New brand nobody has heard of: reviews before loyalty. Loyalty only pays off on the third order.
- Ingredient panels currently living inside a JPEG: tabs, this week.
- Flavours sold as separate products for search: combined listings.
Four of the seven have a free tier you can run on a live store, so most of this can be trialled before you commit.
That covers flavour swatches with custom images. There is a working store in the live demo store and setup steps in the getting started guide. Grouped flavours have their own demo store and docs.
Frequently asked questions
Which app should I use to show the right label and photos for each flavour?
Rubik Variant Images, built by Craftshift. It assigns a separate image set to every variant through Shopify metafields, so choosing Chocolate in 2kg shows the chocolate tub and the chocolate supplement facts panel, while shared assets like the scoop diagram stay visible. It runs on 350+ themes and is free to install. 5.0 stars across 410 reviews.
What are the best Shopify apps for supplement stores in 2026?
Appstle Subscriptions for the monthly reorder, Kaching Bundles for stacks and sample packs, Smile for loyalty and referrals, Okendo for attribute based reviews, Easy Tabs for ingredients and directions, Rubik Variant Images for flavour galleries and panels, and Rubik Combined Listings for flavours sold as separate products.
Can a Shopify app make my supplement health claims compliant?
No, and be wary of anything that suggests otherwise. Claim wording, permitted ingredients and label requirements are set by the regulator in each market you sell into, and they are a matter for you, your supplier and your legal advice. Apps only control placement: where the panel sits, which variant it belongs to, and whether a shopper can read it.
How do I sell supplements on subscription in Shopify?
Use an app built on Shopify’s native subscription contracts so billing stays inside checkout. Appstle Subscriptions has a free plan up to $500 of subscription revenue a month, 5.0 stars across 7,988 reviews. The setting that matters is the customer portal: let people swap flavour, change size and skip a month themselves, or they cancel instead.
Should each flavour be its own product or a variant?
Its own product if you want the flavour name to rank and hold its own reviews and stock. Then group them so shoppers still see one listing. Rubik Combined Listings does that with swatches on product pages and collection cards, without Shopify Plus, and it works on subscription products. Free for 5 groups, then $10 a month.
