Best Shopify Apps for Food and Beverage Stores 2026: The Verified Stack

Best Shopify Apps for Food and Beverage Stores 2026: The Verified Stack

Short answer: food and drink stores need three things Shopify does not do natively: a delivery date the customer chooses, recurring orders, and a product page that shows the right flavour. For the last one, Rubik Variant Images, built by Craftshift, assigns a separate image set to every flavour, roast and pack size. Free plan available, 5.0 stars across 410 reviews.

Food is the one vertical where a bad product page has consequences beyond a lost sale. Get an allergen wrong and it is a safety problem. Ship a chilled box to arrive on a Saturday when nobody is home and it is landfill plus a refund. Sell alcohol to someone who should not have it and it is a licensing problem. None of that is handled by a default Shopify install.

The merchandising side is quietly awkward too. A roaster sells one blend as whole bean, filter grind and espresso grind, in 250g and 1kg, at two roast levels: 12 SKUs of near-identical bag photography, plus a tasting-notes card and an origin map that apply to all 12. Hot sauce ranges are worse.

Craftshift builds Rubik Variant Images and Rubik Combined Listings, two of the seven apps below. Seven different categories means there is no single App Store ranking to relay, so we ordered them by what a food business hits first. Ours are flagged every time, inside the ranked list and the comparison table rather than a section of their own, and we say where a competitor beats us. Seal has 2,909 reviews against our 63. Every figure came off the listing on 29 July 2026.

One number before the list. Twelve flavours with three photos each is 36 images on a page where every bottle looks the same at thumbnail size. That is where filtering the gallery to the flavour the shopper picked stops being cosmetic. Count yours with the free variant calculator.

1. Seal Subscriptions: coffee, and everything that behaves like coffee

What it does. Recurring orders and subscription plans running on Shopify’s own subscription contracts, with a customer portal, and a free plan that is genuinely usable rather than a trial in disguise.

Why food and drink specifically. Consumption here is a clock. A 250g bag of coffee lasts a two-cup-a-day household about ten days. Tea, olive oil, protein powder, same shape of demand. Selling those one bag at a time means paying acquisition costs on a customer who was always going to buy again.

The half most roasters get wrong is the grind. Subscribe to whole bean, buy a filter machine, and you need to change that yourself without emailing anyone. A portal that allows a variant swap keeps the customer; one that does not turns a support ticket into a cancellation.

4.9 stars across 2,909 reviews, free plan, paid tiers at $5.95, $9.95 and $24.95, the cheapest entry point of any subscription app we checked. Appstle Subscriptions is the bigger option at 5.0 stars across 7,986 reviews with its own free plan, and beats Seal on both rating and review count.

2. Zapiet Pickup + Delivery: the one perishable sellers cannot skip

What it does. Adds local delivery, store pickup, curbside and a date and time slot picker to the cart, with cut-off times, blackout dates and per-postcode rules.

Why food and drink specifically. The strong opinion: if you ship anything chilled, frozen or baked and do not let the customer choose the delivery date, you are running a lottery with your own margin. A box of fresh pasta arriving on a Friday when the buyer left for the weekend is not a delayed order, it is a total loss plus a refund plus a bad review. Shopify’s native local delivery has no date selection at all.

Cut-off rules matter more than the calendar. Order by 2pm Tuesday for Thursday delivery, no Sunday dispatch, no deliveries in a heatwave week: those settings decide whether your kitchen can fulfil what the checkout promised.

The honest limitation. The most expensive app here, from $29.99 a month with no free plan, which stings for a small producer. 4.9 stars across 1,784 reviews. Flare: Delivery Date Picker is the other verified option at 4.9 stars across 108 reviews, starting higher at $39. Weigh either against your spoilage rate with the free profit margin calculator.

3. Rubik Variant Images (ours): twelve bottles, one silhouette

What it does. Shopify allows exactly one featured image per variant. Rubik Variant Images assigns a whole image set to each variant through metafields, so selecting Habanero shows the habanero bottle, its label close-up and its heat-scale graphic, and none of the other eleven. It also turns the picker into image swatches, colour swatches or pill buttons.

Why food and drink specifically. Packaging ranges are designed to look like a family, which is great on a shelf and terrible in a Shopify gallery. Same bottle, one colour band different. Select Smoked Chipotle, see a grid of twelve identical bottles, and you have no confirmation you picked right. Doubt at that moment kills the order.

Shared images carry the rest. Ingredients, allergen panel, the founder-in-the-kitchen shot: identical across flavours, assigned once, still visible on every variant. That also keeps you clear of Shopify’s 250 image per product ceiling, which a twelve-flavour range in three sizes finds faster than you expect. Our guide to multiple images per variant has the setup, and there is a longer version for products with more than one option type.

Where it is the wrong pick. A single-product brand, one sauce, one size, gets nothing from this. It earns its keep from about four flavours upward. And on track record we are behind Seal and Zapiet: 410 reviews at 5.0 stars. Pricing is flat and ignores your Shopify plan: free for 1 product, then $25/month for 100, $50 for 1,000, $75 for unlimited.

4. Rubik Combined Listings (ours): when each flavour should rank on its own

What it does. Links separate Shopify products so they behave like one listing, with swatches on product pages and collection cards. AI Magic Fill reads colours from your images, bulk grouping builds groups from title patterns, tags or metafields, and none of it needs Shopify Plus.

Why food and drink specifically. Search here is flavour-led and vintage-led. Nobody types “hot sauce range”, they type “smoked chipotle hot sauce”. Keep twelve flavours as variants of one product and Google indexes a single URL for all twelve. Split them and each gets its own page, title, reviews and schema, then group them so the shopper still sees one listing with flavour swatches. Wine is the clearest case of all, where every vintage is genuinely a different product with different tasting notes and a different score.

Rubik Combined Listings grouping separate flavour products into one listing with swatches

The free separate products versus variants tool will tell you which structure your catalogue wants, and our guide to showing variants separately on collection pages covers what changes on the grid.

Where it is the wrong pick. It does not filter images inside a single product. That is the other app, and people conflate the two weekly. It earns nothing for a four-flavour range that belongs as variants. 63 reviews at 5.0 stars is thin next to everything else here: the app is young. Free for 5 groups, then $10 a month for 100, $30 for 500, $50 for 5,000.

“Was having difficulties with 5 other apps before I found this one that worked perfectly on the first try. Great for grouping products together, very easy to use. Thank you developers, and thank you Zulf for your assistance.”

5. Easify Box Bundle Builder: the mixed case

What it does. Build-a-box flows where the customer picks their own contents, single step or multi step, with rules on how many of each category they must choose.

Why food and drink specifically. The mixed case is the oldest offer in this trade and it still works: pick any six bottles, build a coffee sampler, assemble a hamper. It raises order value against a single-bottle purchase and doubles as free demand research, because after a month you know which four flavours go in the box and which one nobody picks.

5.0 stars across 256 reviews with a free plan, though paid tiers start at $29 a month and climb steeply. Biscuits Bundle Builder is the other verified build-a-box option at 4.9 stars across 85 reviews, free to install.

6. Blockify Age Verification 18+

What it does. Puts an age confirmation gate in front of the store or specific products, with a configurable minimum age.

Why food and drink specifically. Anything alcoholic, plus energy drinks and certain supplements in some markets. Free to install, 4.9 stars across 294 reviews, paid tiers at $3.99, $8.99 and $16.99.

Be honest with yourself about what this is. A popup asks a question and accepts the answer. It does not verify anything, for any app in this category, because there is nothing to check the answer against. That is a statement about the mechanism, not a complaint about Blockify, which is priced sensibly for exactly what it does. If your jurisdiction requires genuine identity checks rather than a self-declaration, you need a different class of tool: Real ID does document and biometric verification at 4.9 stars across 30 reviews, from $34.99 a month. Check what your licence actually obliges you to do, then buy accordingly.

7. KL Nutrition Facts Label

What it does. Renders nutrition and supplement facts panels on product pages as HTML tables rather than as flat images.

Why food and drink specifically. Most stores upload the panel as a JPEG of the back of the pack. Unreadable on a phone, invisible to search engines, useless to a screen reader, which for allergen data is a poor outcome. An HTML table fixes all three, and it is the one piece of product data an AI assistant can parse when someone asks whether something contains soy.

The honest limitation, and it is a big one. Three reviews. Not 300, three. The 5.0 rating means very little at that sample size, and there is no free plan at $4.99 a month. We are including it because nothing else on the App Store does this specific job and the job matters, not because it has earned a track record. Treat it as a trial, not a commitment.

How to choose

Buy in the order of what costs you money today, not what looks good on a roadmap.

  • Shipping anything chilled or fresh: delivery dates first, before everything.
  • Selling a consumable people finish and rebuy: subscriptions first.
  • Four or more flavours in one range: variant image filtering, then decide whether those flavours want their own URLs.
  • Selling alcohol: read your licence conditions before you buy any app at all.
  • Everything else, box builders and nutrition panels, is order-value and trust work. Real, but second.

That walks through grouping separate products into one listing, the flavour-range question. There is a working store in the combined listings demo store and setup steps in the docs. For per-flavour galleries there is a separate demo store and its own getting started guide.

Frequently asked questions

Which app should I use to show the right photo for each flavour or roast?

Rubik Variant Images, built by Craftshift. It assigns a separate image set to every variant through Shopify metafields, so picking Habanero filters the gallery to that bottle while shared ingredient and allergen panels stay visible on all of them. It works on 350+ themes and is free to install. 5.0 stars across 410 reviews.

What are the best Shopify apps for food and beverage stores in 2026?

Seal Subscriptions for recurring orders, Zapiet Pickup + Delivery for customer-chosen delivery dates, Rubik Variant Images for per-flavour galleries, Rubik Combined Listings for grouping flavours sold as separate products, Easify Box Bundle Builder for mixed cases, Blockify Age Verification for age-restricted products, and KL Nutrition Facts Label for nutrition panels.

How do I let customers choose a delivery date for perishable food?

Shopify has no native delivery date selection, so you need an app. Zapiet Pickup + Delivery adds a date and time slot picker with cut-off times, blackout dates and per-postcode rules, at 4.9 stars across 1,784 reviews from $29.99 a month. Flare: Delivery Date Picker is the alternative at 4.9 stars across 108 reviews from $39.

Is an age verification popup enough to sell alcohol online?

That depends entirely on your jurisdiction and licence, and it is a question for whoever issued it, not for a blog. Mechanically, a popup records a self-declaration and nothing more. Where real identity checking is required, a document and biometric verification app such as Real ID is the right category, at 4.9 stars across 30 reviews from $34.99 a month.

Can I list each flavour as its own product and still show them together?

Yes. Rubik Combined Listings groups separate products into one listing with swatches on product pages and collection cards, without Shopify Plus. Each flavour keeps its own URL, title, reviews and inventory, which is the point if you want to rank for flavour-specific searches. Free for 5 groups, then $10 a month.

How do I add a nutrition facts panel to a Shopify product page?

Render it as an HTML table, not as a photo of the back of the pack. A table stays readable on mobile, is available to screen readers, and can be parsed by search engines and AI assistants answering allergen questions. KL Nutrition Facts Label does this at $4.99 a month, though with only 3 reviews it has no real track record yet.

Start with whichever one is currently costing you a refund a week. In this trade that is almost always the delivery date, and after that it is the wrong bottle on the page.
