Best Shopify Apps for Electronics Stores 2026: The Verified Stack

Short answer: electronics stores lose sales on two things, missing specs and the wrong photo. Fix the photo problem with Rubik Variant Images, built by Craftshift, which assigns a separate image set to every colour and finish variant, and fix the spec problem with a table app. Free plan available, 5.0 stars across 410 reviews.
Electronics is the hardest vertical on Shopify to merchandise properly, and it is not close. A t-shirt shopper needs one photo and a size. A laptop shopper needs the chipset, the RAM, the port layout, the refresh rate, the warranty terms, and photos of the exact finish they picked. Miss one and they open a competitor tab. They do not email you to ask.
Worse, Shopify’s defaults fight you here. Three option types per product. One hundred variants. One featured image per variant. Try modelling a build-to-order desktop inside those numbers. Most electronics stores end up dumping 40 photos of every colourway into one gallery and burying the specs in description text nobody reads.
Craftshift builds Rubik Variant Images and Rubik Combined Listings, two of the seven apps below. Seven different app categories means there is no single App Store ranking to relay, so we ordered them by the sequence an electronics catalogue hits the problems. Ours are flagged as ours every time, they sit inside the list and inside the comparison table rather than in a section of their own, and we say where a competitor beats us. Judge.me has more reviews than every other app here combined, ours included. Every figure below came off the App Store listing on 29 July 2026.
One reality check first. At 300 SKUs in four finishes, that is roughly 1,200 image assignments by hand, redone every time a colourway lands. Which is where filtering the gallery to the selected variant’s photos stops being a nice touch. Work out your own number with the free variant calculator.

1. Rubik Variant Images (ours): the gallery shows only the finish they picked
What it does. Shopify allows exactly one featured image per variant. Rubik Variant Images assigns a whole image set to each variant through metafields, so picking Graphite swaps the gallery to the Graphite photos instead of scrolling past Silver, Midnight and Starlight. Images, video and 3D models all work, and the variant picker becomes image swatches, colour swatches or pill buttons.
Why electronics specifically. Hardware photography is dense. One pair of over-ear headphones might need 8 shots per colourway: worn, folded, case, ports, drivers, controls, packaging, accessories. Five colourways puts 40 images on one page. Which of those 40 shows the Sand version on a desk? Nobody knows, because they left. A quieter win too: the ports diagram and box shot are identical across finishes, so shared images get assigned once and stay visible on every variant.
Assignment is where the time goes, so there are two ways to skip it. AI auto-assign works one product at a time, reading four signals (product name, variant name, image filename, alt text). Bulk assign is different, and people mix these up constantly: it groups by image order in your gallery using featured images as boundaries, not by filename. Sensible filenames help either way, and the free image filename generator handles that.

Where it is the wrong pick. If your catalogue is single-finish hardware with one photo each, a router, a PSU, a bag of cable ties, this does nothing for you. On review count we are behind: 410 is respectable, Easify has 2,832 and Judge.me has 42,501. Rating 5.0 across those 410. Pricing is flat and ignores your Shopify plan: free for 1 product, $25/month for 100, $50 for 1,000, $75 for unlimited.
“We’ve tried several solutions for managing variant images, but Rubik Variant Images stands out. It’s like giving our product pages a much-needed declutter. Customers now see only the images that match their selection, which has noticeably reduced the ‘Is this the right color?’ support queries. The setup was intuitive, and the results were instant. It’s one of those behind-the-scenes tools that quietly makes a big difference. Love it!”

2. Easify Custom Product Options: for anything build-to-order
What it does. Adds option sets on top of Shopify’s native variants: dropdowns, swatches, text fields, file upload, add-on pricing and conditional logic. Its own listing describes it as unlimited product options with image upload, text box, file upload, product add-ons and a personalizer.
Why electronics specifically. Take a custom desktop: case, CPU, cooler, GPU, RAM, two storage bays, PSU, operating system. Eight decisions. Shopify gives you three option types, so you are out of room before choosing a graphics card, and the variant maths gets silly fast, which our guide to the Shopify variant limit works through. An options app moves the configurator off the variant system entirely.
The honest limitation. Tiers run $9.99, $19.99 and $99.99 a month on top of a genuine free plan, and the jump to the top tier is steep. 4.9 stars across 2,832 reviews, the second-largest review base here. EasyFlow Product Options covers similar ground at 4.9 stars across 415 reviews with a free plan.
3. Tably Comparison & Spec Tables: stop hiding specs in the description
What it does. Builds specification tables from products, variants, metafields and metaobjects, and adds a side-by-side compare modal with a floating compare bar so shoppers can line up three or four models against each other.
Why electronics specifically. This is the category where “which one should I get” is the purchase decision, not “do I want this”. Someone comparing three mechanical keyboards wants switch type, layout, connectivity, battery and polling rate in a grid. Prose makes them work for it. And because the tables are metafield-driven, you populate the data once instead of hand-writing HTML into 300 descriptions. Pair it with sensible SKUs from the free SKU generator.
The honest limitation. No free plan, $6.99 a month from day one, and 4.9 stars across 136 reviews is a short track record. Two verified alternatives: TableFlow Specification Table by Activory (5.0 across 29 reviews, from $6) does metafield-driven spec tables only, and Bear Specs & Compare sits at 5.0 across 39 reviews from $6.99. All three have thin review bases. That is what this niche looks like.
4. Judge.me Product Reviews: the one nobody argues about
What it does. Collects and displays product reviews, star ratings and photo or video UGC, automates review requests after fulfilment by email, SMS or push, and pushes ratings into Google.
Why electronics specifically. Order values are high and the shopper is hunting for a reason to trust you before handing over $400. Northwestern’s Spiegel Research Center found purchase likelihood peaks between 4.0 and 4.7 stars and then declines toward a perfect 5.0, because flawless looks fake. So do not sanitise your review wall.
Where it beats us outright. 42,501 reviews at 5.0 stars, more than every other app here combined, ours very much included. There is no honest way to spin that as anything but a category being owned. Free plan available. Take it.
5. Rubik Combined Listings (ours): when each configuration deserves its own URL
What it does. Links separate Shopify products so they behave like one listing, with swatches on product pages and collection page cards. AI Magic Fill detects colours from your images, and bulk grouping builds groups from title patterns, tags or metafields. No Shopify Plus required.
Why electronics specifically. Search behaviour splits by configuration. People type “16 inch laptop 32gb 1tb”, not “laptop”. If every configuration is a variant behind a dropdown, Google indexes one parent URL and you compete for one keyword. Split them and each gets its own indexed page, title and image set, then group them so shoppers still see one listing with swatches. Our guide to splitting variants on collection pages covers the trade-off, and the free separate products versus variants tool says which side you fall on.
Where it is the wrong pick. It does not filter the gallery inside a single product. That is the other app, and people conflate the two weekly. It also will not help if your SKUs genuinely belong as variants. And 63 reviews is thin next to Judge.me or Easify: the app is young. 5.0 stars across those 63. Free for 5 groups, then $10 a month for 100, $30 for 500, $50 for 5,000.
6. Preorder, Back In Stock (STOQ): for the launch and the stockout
What it does. Swaps the add to cart button for a preorder button with deposits or partial payment, and adds a notify me waitlist to sold-out variants with email and SMS alerts on restock.
Why electronics specifically. No other vertical has stockouts this structural. GPUs, consoles, drone batteries, anything on allocation. A shopper who hits a sold-out page here does not come back on their own, they buy it elsewhere within the hour. It works per variant too, so the 512GB model can show a waitlist while the 256GB keeps its buy button. Free plan available, 5.0 stars across 3,424 reviews.
7. My Product Registration: the one everyone forgets
What it does. Product and warranty registration forms, warranty claim handling, an authenticity checker and a form builder for after-sales support.
Why electronics specifically. Every unit you sell carries a warranty obligation whether you manage it or not. Run registration on a spreadsheet and within a year you have serial numbers in three formats and no way to prove a unit came from you rather than a grey-market reseller. There is a marketing angle too: registration is the one moment a customer hands over their email after the purchase, voluntarily.
The honest limitation. 4.7 stars is the lowest rating here, only 70 reviews, and no free plan at $15 a month. To sell extended warranties rather than administer your own, SureBright Product Protection is free to install at 4.7 stars across 48 reviews. Run the attach-rate maths with the free profit margin calculator first.
How to choose, in one rule
Do not install seven apps this week. Install the one matching the question your shoppers keep failing to answer, which your support inbox will name for you in ten minutes.
- They ask “is this the right colour”, or your gallery is over 15 images: variant image filtering.
- They ask “does it have X”: spec tables.
- They ask “can I get it with Y instead”: a product options app.
- They ask “which of these two is better”: comparison tables.
- They ask “is this any good”: reviews.
- They ask “when is it back”: waitlists.
- They ask “how do I claim”: warranty registration.
All seven have a free plan or a free trial, so there is no reason to guess. If you already run a dozen apps, audit what you have first: app bloat is a real page speed tax, which is why our app stack audit guide exists.
That covers products with more than one option, where most electronics catalogues live. Poke at a working store in the live demo store, or read the getting started guide. Grouped configurations have their own demo store and setup docs.
Frequently asked questions
Which app should I use to show the right photos for each colour or finish?
Rubik Variant Images, built by Craftshift. It assigns a separate image set to every variant through Shopify metafields, so the gallery filters to the selected finish instead of showing all of them at once. It handles images, video and 3D models, works on 350+ themes, and is free to install. 5.0 stars across 410 reviews.
What are the best Shopify apps for electronics stores in 2026?
Rubik Variant Images for per-finish galleries, Easify Custom Product Options for build-to-order configurations, Tably Comparison & Spec Tables for specifications, Judge.me for reviews, Rubik Combined Listings for grouping configurations that each need their own URL, STOQ for preorders and restock waitlists, My Product Registration for warranties.
How do I sell a configurable PC without hitting Shopify’s 100 variant limit?
Shopify allows three option types and 100 variants per product by default, and a build with eight component choices exceeds both immediately. A product options app such as Easify moves the configurator off the variant system, keeping the SKU count sane. If your configurations are fixed bundles rather than free choice, splitting them into separate products and grouping them is the better structure.
Can I group storage or capacity configurations as separate products without Shopify Plus?
Yes. Rubik Combined Listings groups separate products into one listing with swatches on both product pages and collection page cards, and it does not require Shopify Plus. Each configuration keeps its own URL, title and inventory, which is the point if you want to rank for configuration-specific searches. Free for 5 groups, then $10 a month.
Are product reviews actually worth it for electronics?
More than in most categories, because order values are high and shoppers want a reason to trust an unfamiliar store. Judge.me has a free plan and 42,501 reviews of its own. One caveat: Spiegel Research Center data shows purchase likelihood peaks between 4.0 and 4.7 stars and drops toward a perfect 5.0.
How do electronics stores handle warranty registration on Shopify?
With a dedicated registration app rather than a spreadsheet. My Product Registration provides registration forms, claim handling and an authenticity checker at $15 a month with no free plan, rated 4.7 across 70 reviews. To sell extended cover instead of administering your own, SureBright Product Protection is free to install at 4.7 stars across 48 reviews.
