The basics
What does CS – Export Product Images do?
CS – Export Product Images is a Shopify app that downloads your store’s & products’ media files as one zip file. You choose the products, check the files in a preview, and download everything at once instead of saving images one by one.
Which files can I export?
From your products: images, videos, and 3D models. From Content > Files: images, videos, 3D models, and other files such as PDFs. Product exports include images by default, and you can add videos and 3D models with a checkbox.
YouTube and Vimeo videos are links rather than files, so they are NOT EXPORTED.
Do I get the full-size files?
Yes. The app downloads the original files from Shopify, not resized thumbnails.
Does the app change anything in my store?
No. CS – Export Product Images only has permission to read your products, files, and metaobjects, so it can’t edit or delete anything. Removing a file in the preview only leaves it out of that export.
Choosing what to export
Can I export only some of my products?
Yes. You can filter products by status (active, draft, or archived), vendor, collection, and creation date. You can also export only products that are in stock, or only the main image of each product. Every filter you add narrows the results further.
Can I choose which content files to export?
Yes. You can filter Content > Files by file type and upload date, and by where each file is used: in products, in metaobjects, or not used anywhere.
Can I check the files before exporting?
Yes. The preview lists every file with its product, SKU, barcode, stock, and final file name. To leave a file out, click the X next to it.
File names and folders
How can I name the exported files?
Product files can keep their original name or be named by SKU, barcode, variant ID, product title, or product handle, most with a position number added. For example, the SKU_position format names the first image as SKU01_1.jpg for an SKU as SKU01 and underscore, and the number shows the position of the image. If a product has no SKU or barcode, its files keep their original name.
Content files can keep their original name or use their alt text.
Can I sort the files into folders?
Yes. Product files can go into one folder per product, named by product title, product handle, product ID, or SKU. Content files can be grouped by file type or by upload time. You can also keep everything in one folder.
What happens if two files would have the same name?
The app adds a number to the name so no file overwrites another, and the preview shows a notice when this happens. An image used on several products is exported once, or once in each product’s folder when you use product folders.
Exporting and downloading
How long does an export take?
It depends on how many files you export and how big they are. Exports run in the background, so you can close the app while it works. The job page shows the progress, and we email you when the zip file is ready.
Is there a size limit?
There is no limit on the number of products. A single zip file can hold up to 160 GB. Your plan sets how many files you can export each month.
How do I download my zip file?
When the export finishes, the Download button on the job page becomes active, and we send the download link to your store’s email address.
How long does the download link work?
7 days. After that, start a new export to get the same files again. Zip files are deleted automatically after 30 days.
What if a file can’t be downloaded?
The app tries again, and a download that drops picks up where it stopped. If a file still can’t be downloaded, the export continues without it, the job log lists the file, and the job shows “finished with errors”. Files that weren’t exported don’t count toward your plan.
Plans and billing
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The free plan lets you export 100 files per month.
What plans are available?
Free: 100 files per month
Starter: $29, 1,000 files per month
Advanced: $69, 10,000 files per month
Premium: $99, unlimited files
Paid plans are billed by Shopify every 30 days, and their exports are processed with priority.
What counts as one file?
Every file added to a zip file: an image, a video, a 3D model or a content file. Exporting the same file again counts again. Previews don’t count, and neither do files that couldn’t be downloaded. Your balance resets every month.
What happens when I reach my limit?
The export stops at your limit, and the zip file contains the files exported up to that point. You can upgrade on the Plans page to keep going, or wait for your balance to reset.
Can I change or cancel my plan?
Yes, any time from the Plans page in the app. If you move from a paid plan to the free plan, you keep the paid plan until the end of the current billing period.
